The Client

Metropolis Studios is Europe’s leading independent recording facility, responsible for over 50% of the UK’s Top 40 hits. When upgrading their critical listening environments, they required a solution that met the highest possible acoustic standards while maintaining a clean, professional aesthetic for their A-list clientele.

The Challenge: Precision Acoustics in a Heritage Building

Metropolis is housed in a stunning Grade II listed former power station in Chiswick, London. The challenge was to install high-performance acoustic treatment that could:

Manage complex low-frequency reflections in a large-scale mixing suite.
Provide a seamless finish over large wall spans without visible joints.
Allow for easy access to hidden cable runs and integrated soffit-mounted monitors.

The Quietwall Solution

We installed our site-fabricated stretched fabric system throughout the facility. By using our 25mm and 50mm PVC tracking, we were able to create a high-tension fabric skin over custom-depth acoustic mineral wool.

Bespoke Geometry: Our installers worked around the unique architectural angles of the Metropolis suites, ensuring the fabric remained drum-tight and wrinkle-free.
Industry-Leading Fabrics: We utilized high-performance, acoustically transparent fabrics from Camira, finished in a deep slate grey to minimize visual distractions for the engineers.
